Ed Miliband has been pelted with eggs during a campaign visit to a street market. A man who had been following the Labour leader, and a large group of journalists with him, suddenly began throwing eggs at his back.

"Before people rubbish the NHS they should experience the alternative. Nye Bevan said "the NHS will last as long as there are people prepared to defend it." I am one of those people." "We used to have to light the patients cigarettes for them so they could smoke in bed too."

"I remember how cosy it all seemed. The one central telly would come on and the atmosphere was of calm socialising and witty comments!"
